Great, great column from Barnhart today

Check it out here.

At some point, the luck that has helped UF and LSU make it to BCS title games in years where they had 0ne or two losses will fall UGA's way, and Richt's teams have been consistent enough on the field that I have every reason to believe they will take advantage when that happens.

GO DAWGS!!!

As long as I've been following our recruiting (about 4 years, this is the only one that really upset me. When a recruit chooses another school, you say "oh well, if he doesn't want to be a Bulldog, I wish him luck". Allen upset me, because he made a brash last minute change of decision, and it was obvious that he had made a bad one. We could have used him, and we would have sent him to the NFL. It was a stupid decision, Dwayne. Deal Widdit.

Gee...I feel really really bad for him.

Really.

Not really.

Oh, and another thing. Not only was it a brash and incorrect decision, it also cost us a scholarship that could have been used on another interior lineman (like Omar Hunter, for example), because he waited until Signing Day when we had already started telling guys we were full.

So, yeah, I'm real upset that it's not working out like he planned.

I've been saying the same thing about the lucky breaks that just haven't gone Georgia's way that have for LSU and Florida. Georgia goes 13-1 in 2002 while losing to Florida, doesn't sniff a national title. LSU goes 13-1 in 2003 while losing to Florida, wins the national title. All you can control is winning your conference. A national title requires you to be good and catch some lucky breaks. Although I kinda feel like beating Florida more often than 3 times every 2 decades would facilitate some more of that luck floating over to Athens.

Audit - you are exactly right...I've been saying for years that the only way we'll get any kind of national respect is if we can turn the Gayter series around. Until we go on a streak where we can win 3 out of 4, 2 out of 3, something like that, we will always be considered to be a tier below them.
